Birds are defines as vertebrates that have wings, feathers, and a beak instead of teeth. Compare birds to reptiles and amphibians.
One Duck Stuck: A Mucky Ducky Counting Book
Our theme this week was based on the book One Duck Stuck: A Mucky Ducky Counting Book.
Muck Sensory Bin
- 3 rolls toilet tissue
- 1 bar Ivory soap, grated
- 3/4 cup borax (optional)
- water
Unroll the toilet tissue into a sensory table. Saturate with water. Add Ivory soap and Borax. Mix well. This is icky icky icky!
We added animals from the various TOOBs we had: Safari Ltd River TOOB and Ltd Frogs and Turtles TOOB

Counting
We did two counting exercise from Kids Soup.
Visit Maymont Nature Center
The Maymont Nature Center is a wonderful resource to view animals that live at the James River. And while our theme was Pond, many of the same animals are at the pond as in the James River. We got to see Turtles, fish, otters (my favorite), and other fish, reptiles and amphibians!
