After many many hours and many many redesigns- I decided that I am officially the worst client I will ever have! I am finally launching the new Hollen Zoo Designs website!!! Made fresh and new with a new logo and color scheme.
New Logo
What I hoped to say with my logo was something about me– something feminine but elegant. I also wanted to keep the hummingbird in the logo but when I added two I could make an H! This of course made be very happy.
I wanted something professional, clean, easy to ready, and without unnecessary information. I still wanted it to be an expression of my style, but appeal to a larger audience. After all I have worked with companies from insurance to country clubs to writers– I want a wide range of people and potential clients to get a sense of me but also that I can design something that will represent them.
Looking Back
Here is the old logo
There was nothing wrong with this logo, but I just have been in love flowing script fonts and was looking for an excuse to use one of them!
My advice to others it that logo design, and branding are a process. Sometimes you know right away what you want, other times it takes time to get to know yourself, your company, and your brand. Don’t be afraid to change but try to keep something that is constant. For me, again I am the client from hell, I have redone my logo 5 times (and I won’t dare tell you how many draft and version I worked on!). However, the constant has always been having the hummingbird. My other piece of advice is that if you are on a very limited budget- spend the money on your logo! It is the foundation for your website, your print materials and the overall look and feel of your company.

I happy with this site when I launched it, however as my style has continue to develop, I wanted to move to a cleaner more graphic style welcome page that highlighted my many services. I didn’t want the visitor to have to spend too much time reading to find out they want to say hello.
