Yes, we are crazy to add another animal to our zoo. I think that we had a hole in our hearts after losing Gatsby. And for some reason we went to the Richmond SPCA to just look, thinking that maybe if we found the right one we would get one but most likely we would not get one just yet… and well you know what that means. Soon as I saw her look at me I was sold!
She is 5 months old, and Kodi loves her so much. They have been running around playing together. They are like to peas in a pod. She likes to chase the ball he throws, and he loves to run with her feather toy so she will chase it. We kept her name because Kodi loves the moon. He calls her Moona.
It is nice to see because the other animals avoid Kodi. One, because they are older (my youngest is 5 years old with the oldest 12). Two, because well they are scared of him. He had such horrible colic and reflex that he would scream most hours of the day. So much so that poor Eva would find the furthest corner to hide in and shake because it upset her so much. Even though Kodi is now a happy little boy, I think the animals just don’t feel a connection to him as of yet. I have tried to encourage the bonding by having him give them treats and pet them gently. But I digress… here are a few pictures of Luna.
And as you can tell she has already made friends with the real boss of the house, Pumpkin (another Richmond SPCA adoptee way long ago when they were in what is now the Richmond Animal Control). She has such a relaxed personality that for the most part she has already made friends with everyone.
And a picture of my Pumpkin.
Her name was mention as one of the animals adopted this week from the SPCA! (no picture though)
