Son,
I love you more than you will ever know. When you smile it makes peace in the world. To see you grow and explore is the best inspiration I have ever had to make my life better and stronger. Through you I now see the world better than I had seen with my eyes alone.
Does this mean that you are with out faults? No, you are perfectly imperfect. I had no idea when they handed me you two years ago what the journey would be. I never would have thought it was what it has been. I didn’t end up being the mom I thought I would be, but I strive to be the mom you need me to be.
We will fight and struggle. And in so many ways I see my head strong will in you. I hope that you use this as a blessing to fight and stay strong when others ask you to stray.
My intention are to raise you to be a great man. A man that will know to be humble and strong. That will have faith and honor. You will fall and fail. You won’t be good at everything. But you will be great. You will create.
Time will pass. And all will change. But always know that you are my heart beating outside of my soul, and proof that we can pay it forward. And I hope that I am correcting all the sins of the past in my love of you.
So this is my love note to you, my son, on your second birthday.
You love trains, and dinosaurs, and play-clay. You are an artist. You love to create. You love to explore. You love the moon. And love a bug to climb on your hand. You love to build. In a group you are out going but pull away from the herd.
And my wish you on this birthday is that you will be a humble man, a man of honor, and man that creates.
And more importantly I wish that you strive to be content. Happiness is a lie, is a one side of many emotions; but content is balance. And faith is something bigger than you will keep you in balance.
So, jellybean, lovebug, boss baby, bean…. love you.
Grow. Be. Create.
