I recorded this not to prove that my poor kiddo cries ALL THE TIME but to show the doctor. Both are post feeding. He SHOULD be content. He is trying so hard to be… but then the reflux kicks in and he just can’t.
You can see in the first clip he had been screaming just like in the second clip but stopped for the camera. But what the first clip shows, if you listen is a little quite burp (1:35) and then a scream. The next one he is just screaming like he does for hours a day. Of course normally, we bounce, swaddle, and so on. He is bobbing a bit because I am trying to record and hold him. In the second one, I have a hard time holding the video camera and end up dropping it since he was so upset.
So all you Mama’s out there– is this normal for a three month old to do this kind of screaming for several hours a day? And yes, I have tried baby wearing, swaddling, keeping him up right, bouncing, singing, humming, dancing, standing on one leg, baths, naps (ha!), the car (ha! ha!), walks, rocking chair, sofa… you get the point, we work very hard for hours a day to just maintain the screaming.
And please don’t just offer it will get better– of course it will. We have been hearing it will get better for three months. First it was at 6 weeks, then 10 lbs, then 8 weeks, then 2 months, you get the idea, everyone has there magic suggestion… and trust me– it is 100% better than it was. But it is completely minimizing to someone to say it will get better– it completely dismissing how hard it is RIGHT NOW. How hard it is to not cry when he cries because you don’t know what to do. So yes, it will get better, it already has.
Awww, you poor thing. I know how you feel. He sure does sound like he is in pain. DD was the same way and the pedi told us that all babies cry and that it would get better. Ugh, I couldn’t handle it. I was starting to go crazy. Sleep, what was that?!? Have you tried probiotics and would you be willing to take him to a chiropractor that specializes in infants and children? After DD went to the chiropractor and started probiotics, she became a different baby. She actually fell asleep in the chiro’s office while I was getting adjusted. Here is a link to a website that sums up a lot of what I learned in my researching: http://www.healthychild.com/digestive-problems/treating-reflux-and-colic-in-babies/
