Today was my first Mother’s Day. It was a great day. We went to lunch at Nacho Mama’s, then went to Franklin Goose, took the dogs to the river (gotta spend time with the pup-dren) and ended the day with time in garden– and a wonderful harvest of strawberries. Don’t worry our little one to be was making sure he is part of the festivities by moving and kicking like a champ ALL day. And his new favorite position is making my feet fall asleep!
What a perfect day to get our first harvest of the season from the garden. We are growing Seascape Strawberries in a 4 foot by 4 foot patch. It is ever bearing, meaning we will get a harvest in the spring and one in the fall. This is the second year of our strawberry patch, and I forgot to thin it out! So it is a bit crowded this year. But none the less, we have a ton of strawberries coming.
On problem we are facing are the slugs. We decided to try eggshells. I haven’t ever tried this before but it is suppose to help keep the slugs away since they don’t really like crawling over the sharp surfaces of eggshells. I put a barrier around the patch.
