Because words are not enough I paint.
My work is about the discovery of who I am through the act of painting. The constant struggles with the canvas, the inability to reach perfection, create the never ending battle in my work. Every piece is an evolution, and a journey without an end. Before I paint a piece I dream of how it will materialize, but while I am in the act of painting, my feelings and ideas for the piece change. and every day the image is forever evolving in meaning. Each piece is never fully defined and never complete. Through this ever-changing cycle I learn about my strengths and weaknesses both technically and emotionally.
My paintings are about emotional events, real or make believe, that are always changing. I use colors and brush strokes to define my meanings. I am more interested in the emotional quality than I am the form. My visual roots stem from Jackson Pollock to Emile Nolde, while my literary influences range from Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell to Tom Robbins and Herman Melville.
